I posted a long story of my relationship to with Stephen on my main Blog which I won't get into here. Here are some landscapes by Stephen Brown. Stephen loved color and his paintings are LOADED with colors. Stephen was able to sneak all kinds of colors into his paintings because of two things:
1. His values are spot on.
2. He "worked" the paint into the surface.
(I can show this in class better than I can explain it here.)
Stephen was a friend of ours. So great to see some of his work on your blog. We purchased one of his very early works entitled "Jingle Bells", a lovely cow. It is a pastel on paper (40" x 36")from 1990 I believe. In fact he won an award for it at a show at the Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury, CT. It was interesting to watch his art evolve through the years. Thanks for posting his lovely work.
